Article 1
Women in the Grenada Revolution 1979-1983
Nicole L. Phillip
Abstract
This article is an exposition of the lives, feelings, expressions and views of Grenadian women from the highest echelons of power in the People’s Revolutionary Government to the rank-and-file women. It provides an analysis of the National Women’s Organisation and the programmes of the People’s Revolutionary Government as they pertained to women. It seeks to ascertain whether the National Women’s Organisation met the needs of Grenadian women, and whether the socialist revolution of 1979-1983 “empowered” Grenadian women.
