Call for Papers 2024 | CJP

Presenters and other interested authors have the opportunity to submit their fully developed manuscripts for peer-review and possible publication in a special issue of the Caribbean Journal of Psychology. We encourage individuals to submit original research, theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, case studies, and pieces on psychology and health behaviours in the public interest.

You are invited to submit papers related to the following themes:

  • Colorism
  • Acculturation and Challenges when working with Caribbean Immigrants
  • Eating Disorders: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Stigma
  • Trauma and Depression in the Caribbean population
  • The emotional and physical cost of food scarcity
  • Obesity vs Health At Every Size
  • Cost of beauty: Social and Economic Implications
  • Sports Psychology – Getting Your Head into the Game
  • Men and Muscularity – What is healthy vs. disordered
  • What is Old has become New Again – The Science and Promise of Plant Medicine
  • The Impact of Media on Physical, Mental Health and Social Health
  • The Impact of Supplement Use for Sports Performance
  • Substance Abuse
  • Physical activity and mental health

ORIGINAL CONTENT:

The submitted manuscript(s) must contain original content, must not have been previously published and must not currently be under review by another journal. Research should have received approval from an appropriate ethics review board prior to submission for review.

COPYRIGHT:

Authors must agree to transfer copyright to the Caribbean Journal of Psychology if the article is selected for publication. Authors may get further information, as well as obtain the publication agreement form, from the Journal Manager.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION:

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, including formatting instructions for tables, figures, references and headings. Manuscripts should be double-spaced, with a font size of 12. Literature reviews, empirical studies and pieces of interest should not exceed 10,000 words excluding references. Brief reports and book reviews should not exceed 4,000 words, excluding references. All manuscripts except book reviews should include an abstract (maximum 250 words on a separate page) and up to five key words. Manuscripts should be submitted as a Microsoft Word file, in English (British). Delete all identifying information from the manuscript to ensure a blind review process. Prepare a separate title page with author identification (name, institutional affiliation, and contact email and telephone; identify corresponding author). Author name or names should be masked wherever they appear in the manuscript. Insert the abstract on a separate page, after the title page, and before the introduction.
