Abstract

In this paper normative data is presented on a sample of 151 Jamaicans ages 18 to 92, who were administered the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – 3, and the Wechsler Memory Scale – 3. The sample was chosen to be representative of the adult urban population in terms of socio-economic status and education. Norms are presented for three age groups, each comprising 50 persons. It is suggested that these norms will allow clinicians working in Jamaica to come to more valid conclusions regarding the abilities and cognitive status of their clients. The data may also be useful for clinicians working with the Jamaican Diaspora, who can be found in significant numbers in Canada, the United States and Great Britain.
