The Caribbean Journal of Criminology (CJC), a publication of the Institute of Criminal Justice and Security (ICJS), The University of the West Indies (UWI), is a multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journal, published annually, and financed by the four campuses of The UWI. The CJC primarily aims to promote critical examination of the complex and persistent crime and security problems in the Caribbean. The Journal succeeds two previous journals which focussed on the discipline of criminology in the Caribbean, the Caribbean Journal of Criminology and Social Psychology and the Caribbean Journal of Criminology and Public Safety.

Topics

Papers must focus on the Caribbean and they can also be comparative. Papers may focus on the topic areas listed below but are not limited to these.


• Physical and non-physical victimization and the COVID-19 pandemic
• Victimization associated with gang and non-gang membership
• Results from evaluations
• Criminal justice systems
• Criminological theory

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and must include information on data collection, analysis, results and the contribution to or advancement on existing knowledge. Abstracts should be sent to [email protected]. Papers should be submitted electronically to [email protected] and the email submission should bear the subject line:

CJC Submission: [Article Name]

Papers must be submitted electronically in English and in MS Word. Authors are asked to ensure that the submitted papers strictly adhere to guidelines found here.

Once authors have submitted their abstracts and papers, an email confirmation will be sent acknowledging receipt. A reference number will also be provided in the email which authors are encouraged to use in all related correspondence. CJC follows a double-blind review process. Article submissions will be rigorously reviewed by at least two subject-matter experts. CJC does not accept or review law articles. Authors should direct manuscripts focused on law to a law journal.

Important Deadlines

  • Deadline for the receipt of abstracts: April 20, 2022
  • Notification of abstract acceptance: May 30, 2022
  • Full paper submission for peer review: June 25, 2022
